Because I'm paranoid, I would make an image backup of the system drive first, using something like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. If you have to do this, make sure you have your Resolve database(s) backed up, and create project export. If you don't have lots of space on the system drive, then you'll need to wipe it and do a clean Big Sur install and reinstall your apps. You should be able to run the previous Resolve install from the original partition/volume. I've since helped a few other people with this, and an OS clean install was the solution. Came to the conclusion that the only solution was a clean install from scratch of Big Sur. Something deep in the guts of the OS is getting into a bad state that affects Desktop Video. In fact, it happened to me when I upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur on my iMac.Īfter much testing on my system, we were unable to figure out an easy solution. Since your original report, we've had a few more reports of the same. Is the issue still as originally reported? That if Resolve or Media Express try to access the Mini Monitor, the app freezes?
